Miley Cyrus shows off unlikely new tattoo


Miley Cyrus, 19, has added to her collection of ink. The future Mrs. Liam Hemsworth displayed what has to be her most visible tattoo yet, a quote on her left forearm, Tuesday while leaving a Pilates class in West Hollywood. The tattoo features a quote from an unlikely source: former President of the United States Theodore Roosevelt. It reads, "So that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who knew neither victory nor defeat." Roosevelt gave the quote as part of an often-cited 1910 speech "Citizenship in a Republic," or "The Man in the Arena," that Teddy gave at the Sorbonne in Paris, where it was well received. A longer excerpt reads: "It is not the critic who counts: not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles or where the doer of deeds could have done better. 

The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood, who strives valiantly, who errs and comes up short again and again, because there is no effort without error or shortcoming, but who knows the great enthusiasms, the great devotions, who spends himself for a worthy cause; who, at the best, knows, in the end, the triumph of high achievement, and who, at the worst, if he fails, at least he fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who knew neither victory nor defeat." Another Commander in Chief, President Richard Nixon, referred to the speech during his 1974 resignation, saying "Sometimes I have succeeded and sometimes I have failed, but always I have taken heart from what Theodore Roosevelt once said about the man in the arena, 'whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood....'
Cyrus, who often tweets out quotations that she likes, posted the Roosevelt words to her Twitter account on July 3. Some of the other gems she's tweeted out in the last week, include lyrics from The Flaming Lips' song "Do You Realize??" and the words of Albert Einstein, who said, "If you want to live a happy life, tie it to a goal, not to people or things."
Some of those quotes could end up as tattoos later, since Cyrus has shown she's definitely into ink. She has more than a dozen tattoos, including a dreamcatcher that covers much of her right ribcage, which is reportedly her largest one, and an equal sign on her ring finger to show her support for gay marriage. Demi Lovato tattoos pictures

Ex-Disney star Demi Lovato has inked her wrists with a tattoo to thank her fans for getting her through rehab.

After she punched a dancer on The Jonas Brothers tour, and promptly entering a Michigan rehabilitation facility, Demi has credited her fans for helping her through 'the darkest time' in her life.

Yesterday the 18-year-old took her gratitude to a new level - posting a video online in which she shows of her new tattoos, dedicated to her fans.

On her left wrist says 'Stay' and on the right it says 'Strong.'
There is also a small heart that she says represents the love of her followers.

'I wanted to thank my fans in a way I know can never be forgotten,' she said.
The starlet added that while she was receiving treatment for 'emotional and physical issues' in rehab, many of her fans tattooed hearts on their own wrists in solidarity for her.

'I wanted to show you guys that I will never forget the support that you gave me, and I will look at it every day and remember you and be completely thankful for you. Just thought you guys should know that. I love you,' she gushed.
The teen singer also hit Twitter on Tuesday night, sending her first message since she entered rehab in October.
'Guess who's baaaaaaaack!!!!!!!' she wrote.
'I love you guys SO MUCH this support is UNBELIEVABLE!! I'm tearing up I'm so thankful.'
Fans replied, Tweeting lots of welcome back messages.

Just two weeks ago Demi posted a similar video in which she thanked fans for standing by her and began to explain what she has been through.

'I was dealing with issues that I know not only girls just my age but of all ages are dealing with.
'People that are probably watching this video right now are dealing with the issues that I had to and I hope to one day raise awareness of everything.'

In her video she thanked her fans for supporting her with tweets, letters and good wishes and told them: 'I can’t tell you how much light you guys brought into my life in probably the darkest time of my life. Without you guys, I wouldn’t be here today.'

Looking fresh faced and cheery, Demi spoke about returning to work, although she did not give an indication of her plans, saying only: 'I wanted to let you guys know that I'm excited to get back to work.'

The X Factor contestant showed off some new designs on her right arm, an extension of one she already had.

The 17-year-old posted a black and white photo on her Twitter page of her arm, which had been inked with five butterflies.
They were joined by a question mark and a peace sign, as she added to the bird carrying a ribbon that she already had.
On the ribbon is the word 'Boo', a tribute to her late uncle Edward 'Boo Boo' Smith, who died last September after being tricked into taking a heroin substitute.
She had the design inked two months ago and also had an empty birdcage on her left arm to look as though the bird had flown free from it when she put her arms together.
An inquest in December heard how Mr Smith, 34, was found dead in his Malvern, Worcestershire home after being 'deceived' into taking a lethal dose of methadone.
Cher wrote on her Twitter: 'Happy birthday Uncle Boo, missing you. New tattoo. Xxxx.'
In an interview last year, Lloyd admitted: 'I’m not even old enough to have a tattoo, but I have three. I know it’s naughty.'

Cher also unveiled a new hairstyle as she landed in Miami last week, where she had the tattoo done and where she is believed to be working on her debut album.

The long brown hair extensions come a month after she ditched her fiery red locks for a sleek dark bob, which she added too with caramel and blond extensions.

Woman wins suit against Girls Gone Wild (photos)

The company that makes "Girls Gone Wild" DVDs is seeking to overturn a verdict awarding nearly $6 million to a St. Louis-area woman who claims her bare breasts were recorded without permission.

St. Louis Circuit Judge John Garvey last month sided with Tamara Favazza in her suit against Mantra Films Inc. and MRA Holdings LLC, awarding her $5.77 million. She was a 20-year-old college student in 2005 when someone lifted her tank top during a party at a St. Louis bar, exposing her breasts. Another person filmed it. She later discovered the recording was part of the "Girls Gone Wild Sorority Orgy" DVD series.
Favazza claimed in the suit originally filed in 2008 that she did not give consent and the resulting DVD damaged her reputation. A St. Louis jury sided with the DVD makers in 2010, but a retrial was granted.
Garvey issued his ruling on March 5. On Wednesday, the defendants filed motions asking that the judgment be set aside and a new trial granted.

Jeffrey Medler, an attorney for Favazza, said he will "vigorously oppose" any effort to overturn the ruling.
Several messages left with David Dalton, the last listed attorney for Mantra Films and MRA Holdings were not returned. Phone calls to Mantra Films' office in California went unanswered.
"Girls Gone Wild" videos and DVDs, featuring young women exposing themselves on camera, have made a fortune for founder Joe Francis. But he has been targeted with dozens of lawsuits from women who said they were upset at being filmed. Francis was originally named in Favazza's suit but was dismissed from the case in 2009.

The video was made at a bar then known as the Rum Jungle near the St. Louis riverfront. Earlier court testimony indicated that a woman acting as a contractor for "Girls Gone Wild" pulled down Favazza's shirt at the shoulder strap, exposing her breasts.

Favazza, now a 26-year-old wife and mother, claimed that she only became aware of her appearance in the video when a friend of her husband pointed it out. She sued soon after learning she was in the video.
Three months after a jury sided with "Girls Gone Wild" in 2010, the judge in that case, John J. Riley, ordered a new trial, ruling that the verdict didn't reflect the weight of evidence. He wrote that it was clear in the video that Favazza was an "unwilling participant," saying she is seen mouthing the word "no" as her shirt is pulled down.

But attorneys for Mantra Films and MRA Holdings said at the first trial that signs posted at the bar explained how the video would be used.

The case took another twist in January when Dalton withdrew as counsel. When the judge heard the case on Feb. 17, Favazza's attorneys presented their case, but there was no representative for Mantra Films or MRA Holdings.

In asking for the judgment to be set aside, Dalton wrote that the defendants "reasonably and rightfully believed they were still represented by counsel and that the cause was being defended."

Julianne Hough boyfriend photos

Everybody cut loose at the Footloose afterparty in L.A. Monday -- even Ryan Seacrest!

The 36-year-old joined girlfriend Julianne Hough at W Los Angeles, where Seacrest surprised party guests by showing off some slick moves on the dance floor.


"It was seriously like the end of the Footloose movie. Everybody down there, including Ryan and Julianne, were foot stopping and had their hands up," a party guest tells Us Weekly. "Julianne was so happy because apparently Ryan never dances and this was the exception he made for her, because he was so happy for her."

When Us caught up with Hough, 23, at the film's Nashville premiere Thursday, she admitted that she wasn't expecting her beau to bust a move when DJ Bizzy hit the turntables.

"It's like really awkward, but really cute," she gushed of Seacrest's skills. "My brother Derek does a better impression."

The American Idol host even won raves from some of the film's stars.




"He's a very good dancer for an average-sized person," 24-year-old Miles Teller, who plays Willard Hewitt in the remake, joked Thursday.

Kaley Cuoco Rocks Floral Bikini, Body Paint in Anguilla

Kaley Cuoco gave the world a glimpse of her killer bikini body when she tweeted goofy pics from a getaway to Anguilla with some of her friends Wednesday.

The Big Bang Theory actress, 26, and a pal struck a pose during a boat ride--and accessorized their two-pieces with neon body paint.

"Wild ones!" Cuoco wrote alongside the Twitpic.
In a separate post, the Hop star shared a photo of her gorgeous, sunny beach view. "Best ever!" Cuoco tweeted.

The actress' girls' getaway comes on the heels of her early March split from fiance Josh "Lazie" Resnick. Since calling off her engagement, Cuoco seems to be making the most of her newly unattached status; on March 23, she cozied up to Pepper singer Bret Bollinger at a Lakers vs. Trailblazers basketball game.
